About
Karin Strobos is a Dutch mezzo soprano who has built her reputation on doing a lot with a little. Rather than big theatrical gestures, she leans on small, intimate delivery to get large emotions across, and she has been doing it for years. She is a regular guest in the Appeltaartconcert series, which brings classical music to people who would love to attend a live show but can't always make it to a concert hall. She often shares the stage there with the Kreisler Quartet, and the pairing has taken in Italian bel canto, with music from Vivaldi, Rossini and Puccini. Our database lists her under jazz, but the material in these sources is firmly classical and operatic.
