About
Named after Michelle Pfeiffer's character in a 1985 fantasy film, Ladyhawke is the stage persona of New Zealand singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist Pip Brown. Her sound sits somewhere between shimmery electropop and driving pop rock, built around a knack for songs that feel instantly nostalgic, as if you've already loved them before. Her self titled debut, released in 2008 on Modular Recordings, topped the New Zealand albums chart and went gold in both Australia and the UK, with 'My Delirium' becoming her signature track. At the 2009 ARIA Music Awards she took home Breakthrough Artist in both album and single categories. Before going solo, Brown played lead guitar in the Wellington band Two Lane Blacktop and later co wrote and performed with Nick Littlemore of Pnau in the art rock band Teenager. She has since released three more albums: Anxiety in 2012, Wild Things in 2016, and Time Flies in 2021, the last one arriving after she had relocated back to her native New Zealand.
