Lane 8 is the project of Denver based DJ and producer Daniel Goldstein, whose sound he once summed up as "dreamy back rub house." That description fits pretty well: his music sits somewhere between pulsing electronica and a hazy, emotional kind of dance music, the sort of thing that works just as well at sunrise as it does on a dark dancefloor. He broke through via the Anjunadeep label and his 2015 debut Rise, which pulled in vocalists like Solomon Grey and Matthew Dear and showed he had serious range. In 2016, Goldstein launched his own label This Never Happened, and it has become more than just a vanity imprint. It puts out his own music, spotlights emerging artists, and backs a touring concept where phones are banned so crowds actually have to be present. He has since released four more albums, including Childish in 2024, whose cover art came from his daughter, a genuinely sweet detail that fits the album's theme of letting go of overthinking and tapping into something more spontaneous.
