About
Lenneke Ruiten is a Dutch soprano from Velsen who has built a serious international career in classical and early music. She has worked with some of the heaviest hitters in the orchestral world, including the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Orkest van de 18e eeuw, and the NDR Radiophilharmonie, under conductors like John Eliot Gardiner, Frans Brüggen, and Christoph Eschenbach. In 2002 she swept the Internationaal Vocalisten Concours in Den Bosch, taking home five prizes including first place. Her discography shows a strong affinity for Mozart. She recorded a disc of his concert arias with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra conducted by Ed Spanjaard, and in 2015 she sang the lead female role in Mozart's Lucio Silla at La Scala in Milan. She has also recorded works by J.C. Bach, J.S. Bach, Bruckner, and Carl Orff, with collaborators ranging from the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin to The English Baroque Soloists.
