About

Linda Martin won Eurovision 1992 for Ireland with "Why Me?", a song written by Johnny Logan, and the win made her one of only five artists in Eurovision history to finish both first and second at the contest. That 1992 victory was Ireland's fourth Eurovision win overall, and the song hit number one at home while charting across Europe. Before going solo, she spent years as a core member of Chips, one of Ireland's biggest live acts through the 1970s and into the 1980s, racking up Irish chart hits like "Love Matters" and "Goodbye Goodbye". With nine appearances in the Irish National Song Contest, she holds the record as its most frequent entrant. Her solo breakthrough at the national level came in 1984 with "Terminal 3", also a Logan composition, which finished runner up at Eurovision and reached number seven in Ireland. Away from music, she has worked as a TV presenter and judge on shows including You're a Star and served as part of Louis Walsh's team on the first series of The X Factor.
