About
Also known as: Loredana Berte, Loredana Berte', Loredana Berte`, Loredana Carmela Rosaria Bertè
Loredana Bertè has been one of Italy's most unpredictable and genre defying voices since the early 1970s, moving freely between rock, reggae, funk and pop across a career that spans decades. She worked with Ivano Fossati, who produced 'E la luna bussò', often cited as one of the first mainstream reggae songs in Italy, and she once collaborated with Andy Warhol on a music video after meeting him at the Factory in New York. Her eccentricentric stage outfits are as much a part of her identity as the music itself. She has stayed genuinely relevant rather than just nostalgic. In 2018 she topped the Italian charts with 'Non ti dico no', a collaboration with reggae dancehall act Boomdabash. At Sanremo 2024 she competed with 'Pazza', finishing seventh but winning the Critics' prize, which carries particular weight because it bears the name of her late sister Mia Martini. She also came second in the Sammarinese selection for Eurovision 2024 with the same song.
