Lyle Lovett has never been easy to pin down, and that's exactly the point. The Houston singer songwriter blends country, folk, swing, blues, jazz and gospel into something that sits comfortably in none of those boxes alone, backed by what he calls his Large Band. That approach earned him four Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album for The Road to Ensenada and Best Country Male Vocal for Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. His highest charting single, "Cowboy Man", cracked the top ten on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and he even sang "You've Got a Friend in Me" with Randy Newman for Toy Story. Beyond music, Lovett built a solid acting career, appearing in four Robert Altman films including The Player and Short Cuts, and composing the score for Altman's Dr. T and the Women. After a decade away from the studio, he returned in 2022 with 12th of June, his fourteenth album, which traces back to a connection he made with a band he stumbled into at a funfair in Luxembourg back in 1983.
