Maroon 5 started out in 1994 as Kara's Flowers, a garage and grunge outfit from Los Angeles, before reinventing themselves after guitarist James Valentine joined in 2001 and the name changed to Maroon 5. Their debut album Songs About Jane, released in 2002, eventually broke through worldwide in 2004 on the strength of singles like This Love and She Will Be Loved, turning the band into a genuinely global act. Over the years the lineup has shifted around a core of vocalist Adam Levine and guitarist Jesse Carmichael, with Matt Flynn on drums, PJ Morton on keys and Sam Farrar on bass rounding out the current roster. The hits kept coming across multiple albums, from Makes Me Wonder and Moves Like Jagger to Girls Like You with Cardi B, which went to number one in many countries, and Memories in 2019. Three Grammy Awards sit in the cabinet, and the band has shared stages with everyone from John Mayer to the Rolling Stones.
