About
Martha Skye Murphy is a British musician and actress who works at the stranger, more atmospheric end of singer songwriter music, with ambient, drone and experimental leanings running through her sound. In 2020 she put out the EP Heal, and two years later she premiered Postcards Home, an electronic opera, at the Southbank Centre in London. That's not a typical career move, and it says a lot about how she thinks about songs. Her debut album, Um, arrived in 2024 on the label AD93 and was met with strong reviews. Along the way she has worked with an impressive mix of names, including Roy Montgomery, Squid, LEYA, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. If you like your songwriting a bit blurry around the edges and full of texture, she's one to keep an eye on.
