About
Martin Tingvall is the Swedish pianist and composer behind the Tingvall Trio, a band he started in 2003 with bassist Omar Rodriguez Calvo and drummer Jürgen Spiegel. He writes all the pieces, and the trio has picked up three Echo Jazz awards while building a real international following. Their catalogue runs from Skagerrak in 2006 through to Pax in 2025, with albums like Vattensaga, Beat, Dance and Birds along the way. Away from the trio, he has released solo records too. En Ny Dag went gold in Germany, and Distance and The Rocket followed. After studying jazz in Malmö, he settled in Hamburg, where he worked with the likes of Udo Lindenberg, Inga Rumpf and Mandy Capristo. He also writes film scores, including Year of the Dragon, and songs for other artists.
