About
Matrix, the stage name of British producer Jamie Quinn, has been a fixture in drum and bass since the mid 1990s, releasing material on labels like Virus Recordings and running his own imprint Metro Recordings out of London. His debut LP Sleepwalk landed in 2000, and he briefly crossed into house music as one half of Goldtrix, scoring a number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and a top ten UK hit in 2002 with a cover of Jill Scott's "It's Love (Trippin')". His longest running partnership has been with Liverpool producer Futurebound, together releasing the album Universal Truth in 2007. Their collaborative run peaked commercially with the 2014 single Control featuring Max Marshall, which reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart. Releases have continued to appear on Metro Recordings into the 2020s, keeping Quinn active on the label he built.
