Michael Varekamp is a trumpet player with an international reputation who has spent a significant part of his career exploring the music of Miles Davis. That obsession took him across Europe on tour alongside Sonny Fortune, the saxophonist who played with Davis himself, and his work has been recognised as far afield as Japan, where he received the Kobe Award. Together with The Legends, a band featuring tenor sax, keyboards, double bass and drums, Varekamp digs deep into the Davis catalogue. Expect classics like So What and Tutu to feature prominently, played with the kind of restless energy that made Davis so influential in the first place.
