About
Also known as: Mica Penniman, Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr., Michael Penniman, Mika, ミーカ
Few debut albums hit as hard as Life in Cartoon Motion did in 2007. Led by the relentlessly catchy "Grace Kelly", which sat at number one on the UK Singles Chart for five weeks, the record sold more than 8 million copies worldwide and earned Mika a Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough act. The Lebanese British singer songwriter had a knack for blending piano rock energy with pop theatrics, and that combination made him one of the more distinctive voices of his era. Mika has kept busy on multiple fronts ever since. His third album The Origin of Love went to number one in France, and he has racked up a string of successful European releases through to the French language Que ta tête fleurisse toujours in 2023. He co hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, spent years as a coach on The Voice France, and hosted Stasera Casa Mika in Italy, a variety show that won the Rose d'Or Award for Entertainment in 2017. His seventh album, Hyperlove, became his highest charting UK release since The Boy Who Knew Too Much.
