About
Mild High Club operates in that hazy, sun dappled corner where psychedelic pop meets jazz and dream pop, and the project belongs almost entirely to Chicago trained multi instrumentalist Alexander Brettin. His second record, Skiptracing, is the one that really put him on the map. Pitchfork noted it revealed a more confident artist with a fuller vision, and the track "Homage" from that album eventually went Gold. Brettin also has some notable songwriting credits outside the project, lending his voice to two Tyler, the Creator albums, Flower Boy and Igor. The collaborative album with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Sketches of Brunswick East, showed off a jazzier, more adventurous side, blending both bands' sensibilities into something pretty singular. After nearly five years of quiet, Mild High Club returned in 2021 with Going, Going, Gone, proving Brettin had lost none of his knack for crafting laid back, slightly surreal sonic worlds.
