About

Modest Mouse built their reputation on a run of albums that redefined what indie rock could sound like. Forming in Issaquah, Washington in 1993, the trio of Isaac Brock, Jeremiah Green, and Eric Judy carved out a cult following with The Lonesome Crowded West and then stunned critics with The Moon and Antarctica, which scored a near perfect 9.8 from Pitchfork. Mainstream audiences caught on with Good News for People Who Love Bad News in 2004, led by the irresistibly catchy Float On, and the band even performed it on Saturday Night Live. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank followed in 2007, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and bringing Dashboard into the mix. Over the years the lineup has shifted considerably, with notable names like Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr passing through the ranks. Brock has remained the one constant, steering the band through Strangers to Ourselves in 2015, The Golden Casket in 2021, and their eighth album An Eraser and a Maze in 2026. Drummer Jeremiah Green, one of the founding three, passed away on New Year's Eve 2022.
