About
Also known as: Moll Hatchet, Molly Hatched, Molly Hatchett
Molly Hatchet got their name by pulling it out of a John Deere cap. Every band member tossed in three options, the eighteenth and last slip said Molly Hatchet, and the Jacksonville crowd was left wondering who the girl in the band was. The band was started by guitarist Dave Hlubek in 1971 and ran with the "Three Guitar Army" setup that made them a southern rock favorite alongside Lynyrd Skynyrd's crowd. Their run on Epic Records produced six studio albums between 1978 and 1984, with the self titled debut, Flirtin' with Disaster and Beatin' the Odds all going platinum. Songs like "The Rambler", "Bloody Reunion" and "Satisfied Man" also hit the US charts. The band has kept releasing albums since leaving Epic in 1985, and guitarist Bobby Ingram, who joined in 1987, now leads the current lineup.
