Mt. Joy built their fanbase almost entirely through streaming before most people had ever seen them play live. The Philadelphia rooted, Los Angeles based five piece dropped their debut single "Astrovan" in 2016, and it spread fast enough that the band was playing Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Newport Folk Festival within a year. Their self titled debut album has racked up close to a billion streams on Spotify, with "Silver Lining" peaking at number two on the Billboard Triple A charts. The band blends indie folk warmth with blues rock muscle, and their sound has only gotten more ambitious over time. Their second album, Rearrange Us, hit number one on Billboard's New Artist Albums chart and sold more vinyl in its first week than any other record in the country. The third album, Orange Blood, was recorded back in Philadelphia, closing a kind of full circle. Their fourth record, Hope We Have Fun, arrived in May 2025 and features guest appearances from Gigi Perez and Nathaniel Rateliff, two collaborations that fit naturally into Mt. Joy's warm, wide open sound.
