Few bands defined the mid 2000s alternative scene quite like My Chemical Romance. The New Jersey four piece built a devoted following on a blend of emo, pop punk, and theatrical rock, and their 2006 concept album The Black Parade is still the high water mark for a lot of fans. Its lead single "Welcome to the Black Parade" hit number one in the UK, and the album's grand, operatic scope set MCR apart from just about every other band working in that space at the time. Before The Black Parade, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge had already gone platinum and put singles like "Helena" and "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" into heavy rotation. After a 2013 breakup that caught many fans off guard, MCR reunited in 2019 and came back swinging, releasing "The Foundations of Decay" in 2022, their first new music in eight years. The lineup of Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, and Mikey Way remains intact.
