About
Formed in 2009 and rooted in the Limpopo community of Elandsdoorn, the Ndlovu Youth Choir made a massive splash when they reached the finals of America's Got Talent in 2019, setting the stage for their debut album Africa to land at number one in South Africa. That record was backed by a deal with Syco Entertainment and Sony, and won Best Adult Contemporary Album. Their sound blends choral tradition with contemporary arrangements, and their third album Grateful brought in collaborators including Sun El Musician, Tyler ICU, and the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Most recently, the choir got the green light from surviving Queen members and the Mercury Phoenix Trust to record a Zulu translation of Bohemian Rhapsody, weaving together isicathamiya and kwassa kwassa under artistic director Ralf Schmitt.
