About
Ning Feng plays a 1710 Stradivarius known as the "Vieuxtemps Hauser", which tells you something about the level this Chinese violinist operates at. Based in Berlin, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, and plenty of other major orchestras, working alongside conductors like Iván Fischer and Vasily Petrenko. He won first prize at both the 2005 Michael Hill International Violin Competition and the 2006 Paganini Competition, and was the first student at the Royal Academy of Music in London to score 100% on a final recital. His recordings for Channel Classics include Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin, making him the first Chinese violinist to record that landmark cycle, as well as concertos by Bruch and Tchaikovsky and solo works ranging from Bartók to Paganini. In 2012 he founded the Dragon Quartet, where he plays first violin. He also teaches at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
