About
Novulent's rise started the old fashioned way: recording songs on BandLab using an iPhone 6, squeezed in around shifts at a gas station. That DIY grind paid off when their 2023 single "Scars" went viral after Megan Thee Stallion posted it on social media, eventually landing on the Billboard Hot Rock and Alternative Songs chart and earning a Gold certification from the RIAA. The success was enough to pull them out of college entirely. Sound wise, Novulent sits in a hazy corner where shoegaze and dream pop meet alternative metal, nu metal, grunge, and slowcore. Think sludgy atmospheric guitars, vocals that blur into the mix, and songs that tend to be short and non repetitive by design. The Deftones are a clear touchstone, and so is Whirr's album Feels Like You, alongside Plastic Tree and the Persona 5 soundtrack. Their debut EP Before Evolution dropped via Capitol Records in January 2025, and their major label album Vol. 3 followed in February 2026.
