Of Monsters and Men built their following fast. The Icelandic indie folk band won their country's Battle of the Bands competition in 2010, and within a year their dual vocal single "Little Talks" had cracked the top 10 in multiple countries and landed at no. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. A lo fi living room session recorded by Seattle's KEXP helped the song go viral in the US, and the momentum was enough to land them a worldwide deal with Universal Music Group. Over four studio albums, from My Head Is an Animal through to Fever Dream and now their 2025 record All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, the band has kept their mix of big choruses, layered vocals and folk textures intact. Along the way they've notched a no. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart, appeared as stage musicians in Game of Thrones, and became the first Icelandic act to hit one billion streams on Spotify. Their song "Television Love" kicked off the lead up to the latest album, with live footage from Skarkali showing up shortly after.
