About
Pain of Truth hit the ground running with their 2020 demo No Blame... Just Facts, a record that announced their presence in the hardcore scene partly through a smart use of guest features. Taking a cue from hip hop culture, almost every track on the demo had a vocalist from another hardcore act jumping in, pulling in names from King Nine, Billy Club Sandwich and others. That approach carried through to their 2023 debut album Not Through Blood, which featured Freddy Cricien of Madball and Steve Buhl of 200 Stab Wounds, among others. Soundwise, the Long Island band sit firmly in the tough guy and beatdown hardcore tradition, drawing heavily from groove heavy 1990s acts like Biohazard and Dog Eat Dog, with a genuine hip hop influence baked in. Revolver summed them up as sounding like Hatebreed raised on Trapped Under Ice rather than Madball. Since forming in 2020, they have toured with Terror, Kublai Khan, A Day to Remember and Malevolence, building a serious live reputation to match their recorded output.
