About
Peter Bernstein is a jazz guitarist who has been a fixture of the New York scene since 1989, and his CV reads like a tour of jazz history. He has played in groups led by Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson, George Coleman, Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Diana Krall, Lee Konitz and Jimmy Cobb, among others. His own quartet has him on guitar with Sullivan Fortner on piano, Doug Weiss on double bass and Kush Abadey on drums. As a bandleader he has put out 14 albums, several on Smoke Sessions Records, including What Comes Next. He also runs a long standing trio with organist Larry Goldings and drummer Bill Stewart, which has toured the world for more than 30 years and made the album Perpetual Pendulum. Guitar great Jim Hall once said Bernstein was the most impressive guitarist he had heard, singling out his swing, logic, feel and taste.
