About
Surf guitars meet tropical rhythms in the world of Phantom Four, an Amsterdam band that has been at it for more than twenty years. Guitarist Phantom Frank leads the group, and he came up through The Treble Spankers. Their sound blends surf with assorted tropical styles, and it has gone down well well beyond the Dutch capital: they have played Lowlands, Zwarte Cross and Paaspop, plus stages and festivals around the globe. The album Spectral Sound Sessions came out on Wap Shoo Wap Records in Amsterdam together with the American label Hi Tide Recordings. It works a bit like a greatest hits collection, with familiar tracks given a fresh coat of paint. It's also the first recording with their newer line up, which includes drummer Martin de Ruiter, who has played in T 99 and Leadbeaters.
