Pierce the Veil built their reputation on a sound that blends post hardcore intensity with melodic hooks sharp enough to cross over well beyond the scene. The San Diego band, anchored by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes alongside bassist Jaime Preciado and guitarist Tony Perry, really hit their stride with Collide with the Sky in 2012, when the single "King for a Day" pushed the album to No. 12 on the Billboard 200. Their fourth record, Misadventures, arrived in 2016 and then the band went quiet for a while. After years away, they came back strong with The Jaws of Life in February 2023, previewed by singles like "Pass The Nirvana" and "Emergency Contact". Five studio albums in, they still carry that mix of screamed aggression and genuinely catchy songwriting that made them a go to name in pop screamo circles. Vic Fuentes handles lead vocals and lyrics, and his knack for emotionally loaded but melodically driven writing remains the core of what the band does.
