PISS

About

PISS is a four piece punk band from Vancouver, B.C. that pulls from a genuinely eclectic range of sources: literary figures, philosophers, filmmakers, painters, psychoanalysts, members of a German anarcho feminist militant group, and even conversations with audience members. That breadth shows up in the work itself, which weaves together punk music, poetry, sound collages, performance art and visual art into something that resists easy categorisation. The themes are heavy ones, including sexual violence and embedded gender norms, and PISS approaches them without simplification or dogma. Their live shows are known for being energetic, and the band carries a clear artistic mission: to push punk beyond the boundaries of an established genre while keeping the personal and the political tangled up together.
