About
War on Women bring a sharp political edge to hardcore punk, channeling riot grrrl energy into music that takes on abortion rights, misogyny, and rape culture head on. The Baltimore band formed in 2010 around vocalist Shawna Potter and guitarist Brooks Harlan, and their sound pulls from a surprisingly wide range of influences, from Fugazi and Bad Brains to Suzanne Vega and Pat Metheny. Their 2015 self titled debut full length, recorded with J. Robbins of Jawbox, put them firmly on the map, and they followed it with Capture the Flag in 2018 and Wonderful Hell in 2020, all on Bridge Nine Records. More recently, the band signed to Smartpunk Records, with new album Time Under Tension lined up for release.
