Piter Wilkens is widely regarded as the leading troubadour and singer songwriter from Friesland in the Netherlands. He writes in Frisian, turns out new material every year, and has built a catalogue that spans numerous studio albums. His songs tend to be reflective and gently humorous, finding a light touch even when the subject matter brushes up against themes like transience and ageing. Tracks such as 'De houtene toer' and 'Neat sjoen, neat heard, fergetten', the latter a regular on Frisian broadcaster Omrop Fryslân, are good examples of his style: thoughtful, self aware, and never heavy handed. Live, he typically performs with bassist Willo de Bildt and guitarist Ytzen Peterson, both long standing collaborators who have appeared with him in theatre productions including 'It fûgeltsje yn myn gitaar' and 'Libbene stiennen'.
