Porter Robinson signed to Skrillex's OWSLA label at 18, and his debut EP Spitfire crashed Beatport's servers on release day. That early momentum pointed toward something bigger: his 2014 album Worlds hit number one on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums and reshaped what electronic music could sound like, leaning into nostalgia and melody rather than the bass heavy complextro he'd built his name on. He co wrote Zedd's top 10 hit "Clarity" along the way, though he kept his name off it intentionally. His side project Virtual Self, launched in 2017, earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording with "Ghost Voices". Then came Nurture in 2021, topping the same Billboard chart again and landing at the top of The Fader's best albums of the year. His third album Smile! :D followed in 2024, backed by a world tour of over 70 shows.
