Randy Hansen is a Seattle guitarist who spent decades making Jimi Hendrix's music his own, both as a tribute performer and as an original artist working deep in that same blues rock and hard rock territory. His Hendrix act started turning heads back in 1977 with his group Machine Gun, which shared bills with Heart, The Kinks, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and earned writeups in Rolling Stone and Guitar Player. Before all that, he quietly contributed 17 minutes of music to the Apocalypse Now soundtrack, the 1979 film that won an Academy Award for Best Sound. Hansen's debut album came out on Capitol Records in 1980, and he has kept releasing original music ever since, racking up a solid catalogue of self released records. Career highlights include performing alongside Jimi Hendrix's original drummer Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles, and co writing the song The Change with Miles for his 1997 album Miles Away from Home. Since 1991 he has toured Europe almost every year, keeping a busy live schedule at outdoor festivals and beyond.
