About
Martijn Werkhoven, who goes by Raptiel, is a comedian and performer based in Friesland known for sketches that capture the dry, deadpan humour of Frisian family life. His videos recreate recognisable everyday situations, from the perspective of a typical Frisian mother figure, and have picked up a solid following among people who grew up in the region. The character Betty Dykstra sits at the centre of his work, a fictional Frisian mum whose mundane moments become comedic gold in his hands. His shows bring these sketches to life on stage, with guest performers adding to the mix.
