About
Also known as: Marx, Richard, Richard Mark, Richard Noel Marx
Richard Marx holds a record no other male artist can claim: his first seven singles all reached the top 5 of the Billboard charts. The Chicago born pop and soft rock singer songwriter broke through in 1987 with a self titled debut that went triple platinum, opening with 'Don't Mean Nothing', a knowing dig at the music industry that hit number three on the Hot 100. From there the hits kept coming, including 'Hold On to the Nights', 'Endless Summer Nights', and the massive 'Right Here Waiting', which topped charts across the US and several European countries and has been covered countless times since. Behind the scenes, Marx is just as prolific. He co wrote Kenny Rogers' 'Crazy', collaborated with NSYNC on 'This I Promise You', and earned a Grammy for Song of the Year as co writer of Luther Vandross's 'Dance with My Father'. Billboard credits him with writing number one hits across four consecutive decades, a distinction that puts him in very rare company. With over 30 million albums sold worldwide, he remains one of the more quietly impressive figures in pop history.
