Roberto Jacketti & The Scooters made their biggest mark in the Netherlands with the 1984 smash 'I Save the Day', which climbed to number two in the Nationale Hitparade and became a genuine radio staple on Hilversum 3. The Dutch pop group had lead singer Erik van der Hoff out front, backed by a tight lineup that blended pop with a hint of ska in their earlier days. Their debut album Time and the follow up single 'Make Me Cry' both performed well in the Dutch charts, and the group even performed abroad, including at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow. Though their chart run slowed after 1985, they kept releasing music into the late eighties, scoring a modest comeback with 'Arrivederci' in 1987 and 'Love Cat' in 1988. The group disbanded in 1989, with Van der Hoff going on to build a successful career as a TV presenter. The band has reunited a handful of times since, including reunion shows in the early 2000s and a 40th anniversary celebration in 2020 complete with a double CD collecting hits and rarities.
