About
Rocco Ostermann is a Dutch singer, guitarist and multi instrumentalist based in Arnhem, active across a remarkable number of projects at once. He plays in De Niemanders, whose debut record was called one of the most impressive rock albums in years by Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant, and he also contributes to Donnerwetter and Shaking Godspeed. Earlier, as the frontman of Magic Fish, he took home the 1993 Music Maker Award in the guitar category. Music magazine OOR once described him as an 'intense performer', which tracks with his reputation as one of the finest Johnny Cash interpreters in the Netherlands, a role he has taken to stages in the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland. Beyond the bands, Ostermann writes stories, columns and poetry, some of it in the regional Achterhoeks dialect. He published a book called De Buitenstaander in 2018, founded the Achterhoeks singing pop and rock group The Bruurkes, and plays in the improvisation collective Thee Hämmer. Since 2020 he has also formed the duo Maneman and Ostermann together with André Manuel, producing two music programmes.
