Few artists have bent flamenco as radically as Rosalía. Her second album El mal querer folded flamenco into pop and hip hop in a way that felt genuinely new, spinning out singles like "Malamente" and "Pienso en tu mirá" and landing on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time as well as winning the Latin Grammy for Album of the Year. Billboard handed her their Rising Star Award in 2019, and she became the first Spanish singing act ever nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. She kept pushing from there. Motomami arrived in 2022 with an experimental take on reggaeton, became the best reviewed album of the year on Metacritic, and gave her global hits in "La Fama", "Saoko" and "Despechá". Her fourth album Lux, released in 2025, fused art pop with classical music and broke several all time records for a Spanish speaking female artist, earning five star reviews across the board. Across her career she has racked up two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammys and thirteen number ones in Spain, the most of any local female artist.
