About
Roseanne Reid is a Scottish singer songwriter whose husky, lived in voice sits somewhere between a young Bonnie Raitt and Aimee Mann, and she names Martha Wainwright as one of her big influences. Her songs are simple on the surface but carry a lot underneath, and she sings openly about love between women. She is the eldest daughter of Craig Reid of The Proclaimers, though she has clearly carved out her own corner of the folk and Americana world. Her debut album Trails was recorded in Brooklyn and produced by Teddy Thompson, who pulled together a strong team of players. Steve Earle, a longtime fan, sings on it. Jools Holland was also won over and had her on his BBC programme for an interview and a live session. She picked up a nomination at the BBC Folk Awards in 2015.
