Sweden's second biggest musical act after ABBA, Roxette built their name on an irresistible blend of pop hooks and rock energy that translated into massive global sales. The duo of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle broke internationally with Look Sharp! in 1988, scoring two US number ones with "The Look" and "Listen to Your Heart". Then came the reworked "It Must Have Been Love" on the Pretty Woman soundtrack, a third US chart topper, followed by Joyride in 1991, their best selling album at 11 million copies worldwide. Over a career spanning decades they shifted between 75 and 80 million records globally and racked up four Billboard Hot 100 number ones in the US alone. Fredriksson's death in December 2019 marked a painful chapter, but Gessle has kept things moving. He released music as PG Roxette, dropping the album Pop Up Dynamo! in 2022, and in 2024 announced a new Roxette tour with Lena Philipsson stepping in as vocalist.
