About
Saartje Van Camp makes Dutch language pop music that occupies a world all its own, somewhere between the familiar and the strange, between what exists and what might have been. She draws on an unusually wide range of starting points: a concussion, a mundane conversation in a shop, a traffic jam, the silent protest of women dressed in white in a square in Minsk. Anything, it seems, can become a song. A cellist and vocalist, she spent years working alongside Spinvis before stepping out with her own material. Her album 'In De Naam Van' moves across acoustic instruments, electronic textures and restless rhythms, mixing pop songs, spoken word and instrumental pieces. She performs the music as a trio, joined by multi instrumentalists Dizzi Geetha and Judith Rijsenbrij, with all three contributing vocals.
