Saint Levant, the stage name of Marwan Abdelhamid, pulls from an unusually wide world: his trilingual rap mixes English, French, and Arabic, and the name itself is a pun on Yves Saint Laurent and the Levant region he comes from. His 2022 track "Very Few Friends" hit number one on Spotify in nineteen countries and cracked the Global Viral 50, putting him on the map fast. His debut album Deira, released in 2024 under Universal Arabic Music, is built around a chaabi style track dedicated to his late father's beachfront hotel in Gaza, with features from Kehlani, Cheb Bilal, and MC Abdul. He performed at Coachella 2024 and used the stage to draw attention to the war in Gaza. Influences he has named range from Wyclef Jean and Cheb Khaled to Eminem and Stromae, which gives you a pretty good sense of how wide his sonic palette runs.
