Sam Fender has built a reputation as one of Britain's most compelling rock voices, blending the sweeping Americana of Bruce Springsteen with a distinctly Geordie perspective. The North Shields singer and songwriter is known for his high tenor voice and a gift for storytelling that feels rooted in the working landscapes of northeast England. His debut album Hypersonic Missiles hit number one on the UK Albums Chart in 2019, announced him as a genuine force, and won him the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards that same year. His second album Seventeen Going Under topped the chart again in 2021, with its title track becoming a real commercial breakthrough. Then his third album People Watching landed in 2025 and took the Mercury Prize. The duet Rein Me In with Olivia Dean became his first UK number one single and went on to become the longest running number one in UK chart history.
