About
Semuta is a five piece Dutch band working in psychedelic rock, and they used to play under the name Zuster Zonnebloem. Back in that era, Dutch music magazine OOR pegged them as flag bearers of the Dutch psychedelic rock scene, which is a fair bit of weight to carry. The sound is groovy and energetic, with a rough, in your face edge that doesn't let up once it has hold of you. Our database files them under indie pop and indie rock, but the psychedelic streak is what defines how they come across. It's a band that treats the genre as something still open to reinvention rather than a throwback.
