About
Sheherazaad is an American Indian singer songwriter from Brooklyn whose music sits at the crossroads of modern folk pop and traditional South Asian sounds. She sings in Urdu, Hindi and Arabic, weaving those languages into a style that draws natural comparisons to Arooj Aftab, and the connection runs deeper than aesthetics: Aftab produced Sheherazaad's debut EP Qasr, released in 2024. Her artist name is drawn from the Persian storyteller Scheherazade of One Thousand and One Nights. She performed at the Le Guess Who? festival in 2024, where VPRO's 3voor12 ranked her set sixth in their top twenty shows of the festival.
