About
Also known as: Skillrex, Sonny, Sonny John Moore, Sonny Moore, Twipz, Σκρίλλεξ, スクリレックス
Sonny Moore spent his early career screaming his lungs out as the lead vocalist of post hardcore band From First to Last, but it was when he pivoted to electronic music under the name Skrillex that things got truly wild. His 2010 dubstep EP My Name Is Skrillex, released as a free download on MySpace, kicked off a run that would see him sweep the 54th Grammy Awards with wins for Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Dance Recording, and Best Remixed Recording. Nine Grammys total, more than any other electronic dance act, is a pretty hard stat to argue with. Skrillex has never been content to stay in one lane. He co founded the groups Jack Ü with Diplo and Dog Blood with Boys Noize, produced and mixed Incubus's album 8, and even reunited with From First to Last for a single. His debut studio album Recess cracked the top five of the Billboard 200, and in 2023 he dropped two albums, Quest for Fire and Don't Get Too Close, just one day apart. A surprise fourth album followed in 2025.
