Nobody in Sleep Token will tell you their real name. The London band, formed in 2016, performs masked and robed, with members going only by Vessel, II, III, and IV. That mystique is more than a gimmick though: their music earns the intrigue, blending progressive and alternative metal with R&B textures, djent heaviness, and surprisingly tender pop moments. They built their reputation gradually, from self released EPs to signing with Spinefarm Records and dropping their debut album Sundowning in 2019. Their second album, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, landed in 2021 and cracked the UK Albums Chart. A third record, Take Me Back to Eden, followed in 2023, and their fourth, Even in Arcadia, arrived in 2025 through RCA Records. The Metal Hammer cover slot in early 2022 signalled just how far they had come from those early support slots.
