About
Slow Pulp built their reputation on a sound that sits somewhere between hazy bedroom pop and proper indie rock, and their 2020 debut album Moveys put them on the map despite being recorded remotely during the pandemic. The band had already been grinding through EPs since 2015, but Moveys was the moment things clicked, earning them spots opening for Death Cab for Cutie, Pixies, and Alvvays. Their second album Yard followed in 2023 after signing to Anti, and by 2024 they were opening the North American leg of The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie's co headlining anniversary tour. The four piece, centered on vocalist and guitarist Emily Massey alongside guitarist Henry Stoehr, drummer Teddy Mathews, and bassist Alex Leeds, has a knack for emotionally direct songwriting wrapped in warmly distorted guitars. Their third album Melodie marks a new chapter, being their first record made with an outside producer, Elliott Kozel, with Stoehr also stepping up as the primary writer on the majority of its tracks.
