About
Also known as: Steven Lynch
Stephen Lynch built his reputation on sharp, satirical songs that skewer everyday life and pop culture, and he has become one of the more distinctive acts in comedy music. Playing venues more at home with rock bands than stand up comics, places like Carnegie Hall and the House of Blues, he carved out a loyal fanbase that turns his shows into near religious experiences. His 2004 concert DVD, Live at the El Rey, went Gold, and his albums have sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide. His catalog runs from early cult favorites to the double disc set Lion in 2012 and My Old Heart in 2019, both blending studio recordings with live material. Lynch also stepped onto Broadway in The Wedding Singer adaptation, picking up award nominations along the way. He considers himself a musician first, with Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell as his touchstones, which probably explains why his comedy songs actually sound like great songs.
