About
Stormy, born Yasser El Malih, is one of Morocco's most talked about rappers right now, and his 2024 debut solo album Iceberg made sure of that. The lead single 'Popo', a Brazilian funk influenced track with a video shot in Rio de Janeiro, racked up over 45 million YouTube views and became such a cultural fixture that Moroccan telecom giant Inwi turned it into a branded jingle, complete with a cameo from footballer Achraf Hakimi. That kind of crossover doesn't happen by accident. What sets Stormy apart in the Moroccan rap scene is his insistence on lyricism at a time when plenty of peers lean hard into melodic trends. He raps in Moroccan Arabic and French, mixing autotune with sharp wordplay that has genuinely seeped into everyday conversation in Morocco. His 2021 collab album Jackpot with Tagne broadened his audience considerably, and tracks like 'Maradona' and 'Nikey' with Dizzy DROS each passed 10 million streams. Early 2025 he dropped the EP Omega with zero advance notice, and it landed well.
