About
Also known as: Caron Rayford
Sugaray Rayford has one of those voices that makes you stop whatever you're doing. The Tyler, Texas native built his reputation fronting Aunt Kizzy's Boyz before going solo, and his 2019 album Somebody Save Me earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. That's on top of multiple Blues Music Awards, including B.B. King Entertainer of the Year and Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year picked up in 2020. His sound sits right at the crossroads of soul blues, gospel heat and old school rhythm and blues, and Living Blues magazine put it well when they called him a first rate blues artist with a deep running, church honed soulfulness. His album Dangerous brought in guests like Kim Wilson and Sugar Ray Norcia, debuting at number 2 on the Blues Debut Chart. His most recent album, In Too Deep, came out in 2022 and took home Soul Blues Album of the Year at the 2023 Blues Music Awards.
