About
Born in South Africa and now based in the Netherlands, Sven Cilliers makes contemporary pop with a nostalgic undercurrent. His productions have a warm, cinematic quality, and his songs draw on personal themes: love, friendship, freedom, and the search for somewhere that feels like home. Strong melodies sit at the centre of everything he does. Cilliers built his following in an unusual way. From the age of fifteen he would perform for the queues outside venues such as Paradiso and the Ziggo Dome, turning concertgoers waiting in line into an early audience. Those spontaneous sets found their way online and gradually grew into a wider community. Since then he has released a string of singles and appeared at Paradiso as a support act on multiple occasions.
